I go by Tracy because it sounds like my Chinese name 陈玥西, here’s the breakdown:

陈 (Chen):a common Chinese last name, you might also see Chan (Cantonese) or Tan (Hokkien)

玥 (Yue):a gemstone

西 (Xi):west

I come from Neijiang, a city on the bank of a tributary of the Yangtze River in Sichuan Province, China. If you’ve read River Town by Peter Hessler, my life is like a sequel to the book: my mom attended a teachers’ college and later became an English teacher. I received my B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Hefei, Anhui Province, which I consider as my second hometown :heart:
